What is a bios?

prime input output system .. its a chip on the motherboard that contains commands to find the pc started and spot hardware ..

Basic Input Output System. What it is, is a ROM memory chip on your mobo, that makes sure adjectives computer components function, and work together. Your BIOS chip has important low level instructions that find your computer to work when its turned on. Heres a list of what your BIOS does during startup.



1. Check the CMOS Setup for custom settings

2. Load the interrupt handler and device drivers

3. Initialize registers and power management

4. Perform the power-on self-test (POST)

5. Display system settings

6. Determine which devices are bootable

7. Initiate the bootstrap sequence
